Moody Ques Load-In

All,

Here is the new load in plan.

We are waiting for the floor to be installed in the tent so we will NOT be meeting Saturday morning for load in.   However, we will need a few people and a truck on SATURDAY to pick up the team’s new commercial refrigerator.   If any team member has a truck and able to help out Saturday morning, please let us know.

SUNDAY we need members to come down to lay the carpet since it MUST be down before Holliday comes down Monday.  This is very crucial and has to be done, rain or shine.  Hopefully, the weather will be on our side. Dress accordingly.  We will also pick up tent supplies from the team’s storage locker on Sunday.

Holliday Flowers will be doing the main load-in MONDAY morning so anyone that can be there please make arrangements.  We hope to start when gates open at 7a.m. Monday for Holliday Load-In.

As always times may change but as of right now this is the best plan.

The Board has worked very hard this year to ensure that this will be an incredible year, yet again, so please make plans to help us out so come Wednesday we can all relax, grab a beer, get some great food from Chef David and get the party started on the right foot!

Finally, there are a few of you that live in town that have not received your team bags, they are still at our bar sponsor The Blind Bear. Please make sure you get those as soon as possible.  They open at 5 today and while you are there grab a beer and start your Friday off with a bang! Its goong to be a great year gang, plenty of suprises coming out of the kitchen to fill your bellies and Jamie and Jeanette will be slinging some tastey adult beverages! Look forward to seeing you all.

Moody Ques team bags for 2014

The Moody Ques team member bags will be available for pickup at The Blind Bear beginning today, Tuesday, May 6, at 5 PM.

The Blind Bear is located on Main Street just south of Gayoso. Hours are 5 PM-3 AM Monday-Friday and 12 noon-3 AM Saturday and Sunday.

Moody Ques team announces Start Co. as sponsor

startcoThe Moody Ques are pleased to announce the addition of a new team sponsor. Start Co. will be partnering with our team this year.

Start Co. helps budding entrepreneurs build their ideas into businesses. The company has accelerators, programs, workshops, meet-ups, mixers and more to help give entrepreneurs the tools they need to get going. They also work with business professionals and community leaders to provide mentoring to those with ideas.

Empowerment is a big part of Start Co.’s ideals. They believe that women and minorities should have the tools they need to turn their vision into reality. The company also believes in empowering students, with programs at the University of Memphis and Rhodes College utilizing its resources. Another area of focus is community empowerment, serving as a mentor to public service organizations.

In addition, the company has launched Start Co. Angels, a network of business leaders committed to growing the Memphis region’s economic base. Hello all MOODY QUES!!!!

We are gearing up for 2014 Memphis in May BBQ, honoring Panama. Based on our recent board meeting, this year is setting up to be our best year yet. Below you will find some announcements and team member deadlines.

Tent: We are honored and extremely grateful that Brent Long and Holiday Flowers will once again sponsor us. I am looking forward to another creative and exciting tent façade. We intend to purchase the same size tent space and tent structure with a second story.

WordPress: Due to the phenomenal success of WordPress, the company has grown to a size where sponsoring and participating in BBQ Fest is simply not feasible. We are extremely grateful for their support through the years. Without WordPress, Moody Ques would never have existed.

Sponsors: In lieu of WordPress, we are meeting with several potential sponsors. We will have updates as soon as the sponsors are locked down.

Team Members: Due to our success last year and new interest, we are limiting the number of team member spots. Please email me or Clay as soon as possible to let us know if you are joining us again this year.  We will wait until February 1st to hear back from existing members before offering spots to new members. In addition, we are raising our dues this year.  While other teams have raised dues over the past years, we have kept the original dues from the prior team. Individual dues will now be $300 and married couples or established couples are $450. Payment will be due byMarch 15, 2014. However, to hold your spot, please let us know if you intend to join as soon as possible.

Load-In / Load-Out: We need members to participate in load in and/or load out. Those who participate in either load will be invited to a Post BBQ Fest organizational meeting to share ideas and discuss the team. The Post Meeting will be, of course, provide alcohol and food. In addition, the members participating in the load in and/or load out will be guaranteed a membership spot for 2015.   Depending on our remaining budget, we may be able to offer those participating members a discount on dues.

Food: Ah, yes, food!  We are happy to report that Chef David Scott Walker will once again be our Pit Master. He is planning to bring in several experienced chefs to help as sous’ chefs. The additional kitchen help will facilitate a more consistent menu. We will circulate a team member menu in the future so that you are better able to plan your BBQ fest days.

Blind Bear: We are delighted that Blind Bear is continuing with its sponsorship. The bar was amazing last year thanks to Blind Bear.
